About a year ago I divorced and I decided to embrace long term celibacy. It was (and it is) very challenging. However, I have been successful for the most part in abstaining from sexual relationships. But the hardest thing was to refrain from self-gratification. After struggling for a while, I decided to start wearing a chastity device. I know it sounds a little bit of extreme, but I was really effective to help me control masturbation. A while ago I decided finally that I would save sex for my husband. I think your virginity is too special to give up to a man/men who you know you won't stay with forever, I don't only think this because I am a christian, I think it because even at 14, so many of the people I know who are a similar or are the same age as me have just thrown away their virginities as if it was a worn out piece of clothing, to me that isn't cool and it isn't what God wants or what I want. Also I don't want to have a bad reputation; having my name on the tongues of lots of men. Hi Everyone! I'm so glad to be a part of the Celibrate community! When I was 23, I stopped having sex because I realized I was gay and my parents are ultra-religious. Since I'm also deeply catholic, I figured I'd rather be miserable than disappoint my parents or deviate from the beliefs I have been prescribed. It was miserable (and sometimes it still is!) but, I knew that if just never had sex with a man, no one could ever call me gay (and that's what's important). So now I'm just a person, not gay, not straight, just a person - not gay.

I think one must take care of your health and not indulge in the pleasures of sex that is a power that was given to us to procreate .. I have grown up in a town famed for having the highest teenage pregancies and a society so obsessed with sex and alcohol that it is the number one priority of a large part of the peoples to engage in both as much as possible, even if it hurts loved ones. I have been used and abused in the name of sex and I no longer find myself wanting to carry on the same way of life.
